FIRE SAFETY SYSTEMS LICENSING PROGRAM

In the City and County of Denver, all installers of life safety systems, and all those who perform the service of inspecting those systems, must have current licenses issued by the Denver Fire Department. These safety systems include:

  • Fire protection systems (sprinkler systems)
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Portable fire extinguishers
  • Public Safety Bi-Directional Amplifier Systems (BDA)
  • Fire Pumps
  • Health Safety Coordinator
  • Mass Notification Communication Systems
  • Venue Safety and Emergency Evacuation Coordinator
  • Central Station Runner
  • Conveyance Inspector

  • Apprentices doing this work under a journeyman, who are registered in an approved apprentice training program or have a signed agreement in place with a contractor (see below), are required to be registered with the Denver Fire Department (but not required to hold a license).
In the future, additional licensing programs will be added, such as smoke control and hood systems. An announcement will appear on this web page whenever a new licensing program is added.
